Meet Dr. Moe
Who am I?
My name is Monique Irene Marsh-Bell. I’m a native Texan who embraces all the good my state has to offer! I attend the State Fair in October, the Rodeo in March and, when I can hustle up tickets, you can find me at a Mavs, Cowboys or Rangers game. I’m a wife and a mother. I’m a career woman and business owner. I’m a Christian and an active member in my church.
I’m also aware that the state I call home is not always welcoming to those who identify as BIPOC and/or LGBTQ+. I know that my identity as a wife and mother makes me no more valuable in society than someone who identifies as single and has no children. I believe my decision to be a working-mom doesn’t put me in competition with a stay-at-home mom. I know that my relationship with God is important to me and it’s something that I can hold dear while still respecting other people’s choices, opinions, and beliefs.
I don’t cook, hate the smell of flowers, and think binge watching reality TV is an appropriate form of self-care (in moderation)! I’m the friend who responds to your text in my mind but then forgets to respond in real life. I’m the family member you need to call before coming by because I need the heads up to tidy up! I’m a realist, which means to me, the glass isn’t half empty or half full. It’s a glass with water (or wine) in it and I get to decide where things go from there! I’m a licensed clinical psychologist who has been helping people improve their mental health and their lives for over a decade.
What I do and How I do it?
I provide client-centered therapy to individuals and couples who are interested in making positive life changes. I have experience with a variety of treatment modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, prolonged exposure therapy, cognitive process therapy for trauma, and choice/reality therapy. My work with my clients is tailored to fit their needs and their goals. I have a passion for working with elite athletes, college students, young adults, persons who identify as BIPOC, persons who identify as LGBTQ+, couples, and young professionals. However, the most important thing to me is that my client is open to self-exploration, truth-telling and doing the work it takes to achieve a better life.
Why I do this?
It might sound cliche but Truth Be Told, I really just want to help people! My own story is a huge part of why I do what I do. Growing up I didn’t know there were people trained to walk alongside you during your toughest parts of your journey and guide you toward your desired destination. Finding the field of psychology in college was a game changer for me. I realized there were people out there with the skills and knowledge to help me when I was at my lowest points, and I also realized that I wanted to be that person for someone else. I’ve done (and continue to do) my own work and I see myself as a testament to how therapy can change your life.
